With not a lot of experience in cycling I went from my Pearl Izumis to Assos mainly thinking, wow these ones look cool ! ... well, besides the looks I discovered what a real short is supposed to do ... keep your butt comfortable for loooong periods of time.
The short fits perfectly, meaning that the chami stays in place while you ride and you don't have to pull your shorts up after a couple of hours on the bike; Once you are in, you stay in.
Oh ! and the quality of the materials is outstanding (i.e. really efficient in wicking moisture) the lycra is soft on your skin but tough on the saddle !!
well ... they are expensive though, but if you are planning to stay out and do some serious cycling (or at least try ... as I do !) you gotta get a pair of this !
